Centre for Jewish Artists (COJA)
COJA (Centre for Jewish Artists) will be part of the new Jewish Arts Quarter on Selwyn Street in Elsternwick.
COJA will be a place that supports, connects and advocates for professional Jewish Artists.
COJA aims to:
Offer mentorship within different art forms (music, performance, visual arts, writing etc)
Create a publicly available database of Jewish artists
Offer information sessions, workshops and resources around skill building (grant applications, budgets, portfolios etc)
Hold networking events for Jewish artists to meet and connect
Offer opportunities within the Jewish Arts Quarter such as residencies and grants
Advocate for Jewish artists for more opportunities in partnership with other organisations
Create opportunities spotlighting diaspora culture and Jewish continuity
Be a centre that is accessible and inclusive of all Jewish artists
There is currently no dedicated organisation that focuses on supporting professional Jewish artists (emerging and established) in pursuing and maintaining a sustainable artistic career. COJA will be a centre that brings together and celebrates the artistic and cultural diversity within the Jewish community.
COJA will establish the presence of Jewish artists at the Jewish Arts Quarter and create a physical and digital place of gathering that will support, advocate and connect artists to each other and to opportunities.
Research and Development
We are currently in the initial stage of research and development for COJA. This involves connecting with Jewish organisations, industry organisations and Jewish artists.
If you belong to a Jewish organisation, industry organisation or identify as an emerging or established Jewish artist we would love to hear from you, please complete the below survey.
